Special public comment period to Establish Code of Conduct and Whistleblower Protection Bylaws
Published on: Thursday, April 18, 2024
The Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) seeks feedback during a special public comment period on a proposed bylaw addition that would codify and centralize requirements and expectations for OPTN volunteers. The proposal would:
- Clarify reporting pathways for whistleblowers and make explicit the OPTN’s position of non-retaliation, in addition to any non-retaliation requirements required by law
- Require OPTN volunteers to sign and adhere to the OPTN Code of Conduct
- Formalize processes for reporting and review of potential violations of the OPTN Code of Conduct and whistleblower reports
- Provide guidance regarding making public statements on behalf of the OPTN
If adopted, these requirements would apply to all OPTN volunteers including members of the Board of Directors, Committees, and Review Boards. The special public comment period will begin on April 17, 2024, and end on May 17, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. ET. Read the full proposal and provide feedback by clicking the link below.
