National webinar for transplant professionals to provide information about July 2024 implementation of pre-transplant performance metric
Published on: Thursday, May 30, 2024
A new risk-adjusted pre-transplant performance monitoring metric, the pre-transplant mortality rate ratio, will go into effect July 25, 2024. In order to support the community, the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network (OPTN) hosted a webinar for transplant professionals June 28, 2024, from 12 to 1 p.m. ET, with information on the upcoming implementation. Scientific Registry of Transplant Recipients (SRTR) Director Jon Snyder, Ph.D. and SRTR Biostatistician Grace Lyden, Ph.D., will join Zoe Stewart Lewis MD, chair of the OPTN Membership and Professional Standards Committee (MPSC) to discuss the new metric and answer participants' questions.
Background
The pre-transplant mortality rate ratio metric aims to increase the likelihood that a patient makes it to transplant alive by encouraging improved waiting list management activities and supporting more aggressive offer acceptance practices. This metric is the fourth and final enhanced metric of a comprehensive monitoring system the MPSC developed to more holistically evaluate transplant program performance.
