Monkeypox summary of evidence report available
Published on: Wednesday, October 5, 2022
Since May 2022, an increasing number of monkeypox cases have been identified globally, particularly in regions where the condition is not endemic. The OPTN Ad Hoc Disease Transmission Advisory Committee (DTAC) has prepared a summary of evidence document to help clinicians understand and minimize the risk of donor-derived monkeypox transmission while maximizing donor utilization. DTAC will review the document on a quarterly basis.
The committee developed the summary in collaboration with colleagues representing the American Society of Transplantation, the American Society of Transplant Surgeons, the Association of Organ Procurement Organizations, the American Association of Tissue Banks, and federal agencies including the Health Resources and Services Administration, Centers for Disease Control and Transmission, and the Food and Drug Administration. DTAC will review the document on a quarterly basis.
