Published on: Monday, November 25, 2024
On November 1, 2024, the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) published in the Federal Register a 60-day notice of public comments on a revised data collection package to support OPTN initiatives. This notice is a requirement under the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1995. The Act requires that agencies obtain Office of Management and Budget (OMB) approval before requesting most types of information from the public. This revised data collection package (OMB- 0915-0157) includes OPTN Board-approved changes to existing OMB-approved forms and forms already in use by the OPTN.
This notice addresses the following OPTN initiatives and projects:
- Updated data collection for lung mortality models
- Data collection enhancements to OPTN donor data and matching system
- OPTN KPD updates to blood type policy and donor re-evaluation
- Improvements to evaluating deceased donors for endemic diseases
- Data collection for deceased donor support therapy
- Amended mechanical device requirements for adult Heart Status 2 candidates
Following the OMB 60-day notice of public comments process, the draft forms will be available for review during the 30-day notice of public comments period.
Important note: This notice of public comments is distinct from the notice of public comments regarding the HRSA data directive. The directive is addressed in a separate Federal Register notice, summarized here.
HRSA must receive written comments no later than Dec. 31, 2024. Interested individuals or organizations may submit comments in two ways:
- via e-mail to paperwork@hrsa.gov
- by mail to the HRSA Information Collection Clearance Officer, Room 14NWH04, 5600 Fishers Lane, Rockville, MD 20857.
