COIIN participants share process improvements at Learning Congress

The three-year COIIN (Collaborative Innovation and Improvement Network) concluded with a two-day Learning Congress in Dallas in August 2018. More than 100 kidney transplant professionals attended the forum, representing 51 of the 58 participating centers.

HRSA representatives, members of the COIIN Advisory Council and UNOS staff also attended.

At the Learning Congress, plenary presentations and breakout sessions allowed participants to share their experiences with collaborative improvement. Over the course of the pilot project, participating centers developed improvement goals and tested them in rapid-cycle learning periods.

Centers presented learnings and results related to the following Affinity Groups.

• Waitlist Management
• Organ Offer and Acceptance
• Care Coordination

The overall aim of the project was to increase utilization of marginal kidneys, with additional goals of testing alternative monitoring approaches. A number of centers reported improvements in targeted areas during their nine-month COIIN periods. Visit the COIIN Resources page for more information.
